It used to be, you’d visit a doctor, wave your insurance card and the bill was taken care of. But times have changed.
The truth is, your insurance may or may not cover all your health care needs. While many carriers provide benefits for urgent or injury related chiropractic encounters, most limit preventative or wellness chiropractic care. The sad truth is, “health” care can often be translated into “sick” care. With little emphasis on promoting health, most insurance plans are focused on reducing acute symptoms with prescription pharmaceuticals or surgically repairing body parts after they fail. The health insurance industry is in crisis with premiums and co-pays are rising whilst benefits are being reduced. If you have insurance, it is likely that your co-pay is almost equivalent or even higher that the "cash" fee for an office visit. After having been "in network" with an insurance company, we discovered that our patients and our office are better off being out of network. We are not participating in any insurance networks, and you will be surprised to find that our "cash fee" is affordable. We ask for payment at the time of each visit We will provide you with a reciept at your request.
Medicare We are "non-participating" providers for Medicare. Those patients with Medicare coverage are responsible for paying for the charges of covered services for Medicare at Medicare rates, and we will bill Medicare on your behalf for reimbursement to you. Medicare does not cover procedures outside of manipulation to the spine, and these procedures will need to be paid for at the time of the visit. Out of Network Insurance Billing For those covered by other insurance companies with benefits that cover chiropractic care, we are able to bill the insurance company as an out of network provider. We ask payment of our "cash fee" at the time of the visit. If you wish to provide bills to your insurance to satisfy deductibles or bill your insurance company yourself, we will provide the necessary documents for you to submit to your insurance carrier so you can be directly reimbursed for your care. If you ever have a question about the financial aspects of your care, rest assured that our dedicated staff are ready to work with you on finding the most economical means to achieving wellness. Misunderstandings About Insurance Coverage Most insurance policies will help pay for chiropractic care when you have obvious symptoms. However, in many cases, benefits run out when you’re feeling better, but before muscles and ligaments fully heal. This invites a relapse of your original problems. Lasting healing is based on a course of treatment customized to your special needs.
Discontinuing your care too soon may invite a relapse of your original problem. Relying entirely on your insurance carrier may place you on a roller coaster of relapses without fully addressing your underlying conditions.
